Making fire - the prehistoric way. This skill was vital for our ancestors. There are various methods of doing this, one of which requires team spirit! And how can fire be transported? Each participant produces his own candle and can symbolically carry the fire on.

Demonstration: habits of life and funerary rituals reconstructed on the basis of archaeological investigations conducted in villages and necropolis.

Demonstration: Humans and animals have always consumed fruit, but since the Bronze Age the relationship with this food has changed. From botany to the table, a story on the role of fruit over time.

Demonstration: Experiments in casting and working with weapons, tools and ornaments.

During a craft weekend you will discover special historical crafts from earlier times, from prehistory to the Middle Ages. There are several historical residents working with their hands, for example: 

Guided tours of stilt houses built as in prehistoric times, guided hikes and an educational workshop dedicated to animal tracks.

The ancient inhabitants of the stilts return for a day to tell you about their times and we will have a (bio) beekeeper with us!

Pottery workshop "Cyprus Ancient Arts" in Phoini. Under the auspices and sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism. In this workshop we will learn the basic techniques of recreation of ancient pottery inspired from the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages.

About the Event

Following the 6th experimental archaeological workshop, in which we learn how to create ancient cooking pots from the Bronze Age, we will exhibit several different models of ancient cooking pots that were used in that era in various different places in the Mediterranean.
