On behalf of the organizing committee, we invite you to participate in the African Conference on Experimental Archaeology (ACE), in Johannesburg, South Africa. The conference will be held at the Wits Club, University of the Witwatersrand. ACE encourages the exchange and sharing of new work in scientific experiments and closely related activities focussing on African and Africanist research.

This year the REARC meetings are scheduled for October 25th and 26th in historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. We are excited to announce that the Department of Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington will host Friday presentations. And on Saturday, REARC craftspeople will hold a variety of demonstrations/workshops at George Washington’s Ferry Farm.

Sharpen your prehistoric tools for a day out to remember as we celebrate everything that is great about flint! Explore the undulating grounds of Grime’s Graves, the only prehistoric flint mine open to the public in the UK, before heading deep underground into the prehistoric flint mine* wearing your hard hat!

On the weekend of October 26 and 27, young and old are welcome at the OER weekend in the Hunebed Center. This weekend the Prehistoric Park is filled with prehistoric ancient people who bring the past to life.

It is an opportunity to discover that the core of many activities within the home is the hearth, that the weaving area consists of a vertical frame and that the stone tools used in agricultural and daily activities find them in the peasant world. The 12th Iberian Congress of Archaeometry will be held between October 25th and 28th at the Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana (CENIEH) in Burgos .

The Iberian archaeometry community will meet to discuss the technological advances and their possible applications to the material study of historical, archaeological and cultural heritage.

This weeklong workshop for university-level archaeology students will utilize the ideal setting of the Neolithic-Chalcolithic Aktopraklık site in Turkey. Bolstered by on-site reconstructions of prehistoric architecture, participants will have the unparalleled opportunity to do experimental archaeology in the same manner and setting as Aktopraklık’s ancient inhabitants.
